Welcome back, Richest fans! Located in the city of Magdeburg in Germany is the Magdeburg Water Bridge. A water bridge, or aqueduct is a bridge that connects a canal over a drop such as a lake. Pretty useful. This German aqueduct is in fact a world record holder for the longest water bridge in the world! On top of that, it cost an absolute fortune to construct. Today, we’re going to look at all the facts and features of this amazing engineering marvel. We’ll even see some of the most impressive water bridges across the world. As well as see just how much it costs to buy and maintain a canal boat.
Now for the spoiler paragraph. If you like surprises, we suggest you stop reading and watch the video multiple times. To start with, we’ll see how much it cost to create the Magdeburg Water Bridge as well as the reason for its creation. We’ll then see the history and construction details of one of the most expensive bridges in the world. We’ll then examine narrowboats that are currently for sale and how much a new and used one can be. As well as the yearly costs to keep them going. After that, we have the water bridge that connects the Briare Canal to the Canal latéral à la Loire, the Briare Aqueduct. Fun fact, its creation was overseen by Gustave Eiffel! We then have the Longdon-on-Tern Aqueduct that was designed by Thomas Telford to connect the Shrewsbury Canal 225 years ago! Finally, we’ll briefly look at the highest bridge in the world, the Duge Bridge in China.
